Denmark is a Scandinavian country located in Northern Europe. Denmark is also a constitutional monarchy and the Kingdom includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Denmark is a member of the European Union, and has strong bonds to its Northern neighbouring countries; Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
Denmark has a population of 5,511,451 (2009). The official language is Danish, but English and German are widely spoken.
Excluding the Faroe Islands and Greenland, Denmark is with its 43,098 square kilometres smaller than many American states.
Denmark consists of more than 400 islands, with Zealand being the largest, and the peninsula of Jutland.
